New Leader Helpful Hints

As a new leader, you probably have a lot of questions, not the least of which is: What am I getting myself into?

There are a couple of things you can do to set yourself and your den up for the highest level of success.

#1 Take the Youth Protection online training (Access from www.mcctraining.org)
#2 Take Protecting God's Children training (Schedule on www.virtus.org)
#3 Take the Den Leader Fast Start online training (Access from www.mcctraining.org)
#4 Plan to come to the Scouter Success Seminar on September 26 (Register at www.mcctraining.org)
#5 Check here for planning information appropriate for various ranks (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos)
#6 Plan your first Den Meeting (guide on Boy Scout Trail or pop out to this link
#7 Reach out to the Parents in your Den to introduce yourself (den information on Scout Track)

We are Cub Scouts Pack 8, based near Ballantyne in Charlotte, NC. We are chartered by St. Matthew Catholic Church, and we belong to the Apache Division of the Mecklenburg Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Cub Scouting is for boys in the first through fifth grades, or 7 to 10 years of age. For a guide to Pack 8 for 2008/2009 - click here.

Boys who are older than 10, or who have completed the fifth grade, can no longer join our Pack, but they may be eligible to join the Boy Scouting Troops. Contact Scoutmaster Mark Spisak for information on how to join Troop 8.
