Pack 8 Pinewood Derby - March 7!

A great event every year, we are excited about this year's race. Car kits were distributed at the December 5 Pack Meeting, or e-mail me and we'll arrange a handoff.

The Race is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2009. Car check-in will be on Friday, March 6 from 6:30 to 8:30 at the St. Matthew Parish Center gym.

As in years before, we will have the Tigers and Wolves race in the morning from 9 - 11-ish and then have the Bears and Webelos race in the evening from 5:30 - 7-ish.

We are sticklers for the rules; any cars that do not conform to standards will be disqualified. Rules are posted at the bottom of this page...please read and adhere to them.

We need several adult volunteers to make this happen; please reach out to Tom Dardis at thodar@carolina.rr.com if you'd like to help out, or if you have any questions.

We are Cub Scouts Pack 8, based near Ballantyne in Charlotte, NC. We are chartered by St. Matthew Catholic Church, and we belong to the Apache Division of the Mecklenburg Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Cub Scouting is for boys in the first through fifth grades, or 7 to 10 years of age. For a guide to Pack 8 for 2009/2010 - click here.

Boys who are older than 10, or who have completed the fifth grade, can no longer join our Pack, but they may be eligible to join the Boy Scouting Troops. Contact Scoutmaster Mark Spisak for information on how to join Troop 8.
